The new V6 Otto EVO LK3 engine is an important building block in the company’s long-term strategy: it expands the powertrain portfolio, ensures stable capacity utilisation in the coming years, and underlines the technological competence of the Győr-based company.
“The start of production of the new V6 Otto EVO LK3 marks another milestone in Audi Hungaria’s 33-year history. This high-performance power source embodies both the engineering expertise and flexibility of Győr-based powertrain manufacturing. With this project, we are further strengthening our role within the global powertrain network of Audi and the Volkswagen Group,” said Peter Will, Member of the Board of Management of Audi Hungaria responsible for powertrain production.
The new engine differs from previous six-cylinder petrol engines in more than 60 components, and includes improvements such as increased fuel pressure to 350 bar, electrically adjustable turbine geometry and integrated charge air cooling. These improvements allow for greater efficiency, faster response times and, at the same time, higher performance.
The new V6 Otto power source represents a significant technological advance. Thanks to the two fuel pumps, increased injection pressure, electrically adjustable turbo geometry and intake manifold-integrated charge air cooling, the engine offers high power, fast response and low fuel consumption at the same time. The development of the engine involved solving a number of technical challenges, including new mounting points for the turbocharger, the design of the integrated cooling systems as a pre-mounted unit, and modifications to the position of the camshafts. These measures are key to meeting the EURO 7 standard and demonstrate the high level of expertise of Audi Hungaria engineers. The Győr-produced power source made its debut in the new Audi RS5.
