Focus on digitalisation and artificial intelligence at Audi Hungaria

Győr, 27 January 2026 – The Audi Group operates several factories around the world, all of which operate as intelligent and connected systems, relying on digital platforms capable of real-time information processing. This enables the rapid introduction of new functionality, stabilising core processes and strengthening the cyber security at the plants. As part of the Group, Audi Hungaria is also continuing its digital transformation.

"Digitalisation and artificial intelligence are key factors for our competitiveness. Through the use of value stream based IT solutions and AI, we are creating transparency and increasing our efficiency," said Michael Breme, Chairman of the Board of Michael Breme, Chairman of the Board of Management of Audi Hungaria.

New IT solutions and the use of artificial intelligence have been introduced in several areas of the Győr factory. Last year, experts at the engine plant started a project to review the IT solutions of the engine plant. The project has mapped all the tools, technologies and IT systems used in the value stream based analysis and along the process chain. The results will enable accurate analysis of business processes and accelerate the identification of digitisation opportunities. The methodology also supports operations and maintenance processes in troubleshooting. The company is currently working on a further extension of the methodology, which it expects to bring significant cost reductions.

Audi Hungaria uses artificial intelligence in a number of other areas:

  • Fuel cap detection with AI algorithm
  • Checking the surface of gears
  • Checking of connector mating using an acoustic AI algorithm
  • Support for accounting entries with language models

Among other things, these AI-based systems support manufacturing, quality assurance and, increasingly, product development and manufacturing technology planning. Applications such as predictive maintenance, automated fault diagnostics and virtual modelling with digital twins reduce the number of physical tests, save time and costs, and increase productivity.

A specific process within the company, optimised for the project objectives, supports the different specialist areas in the implementation of AI solutions. Audi Hungaria's own training centre, the Audi Academy, offers Audi colleagues an ever-expanding range of educational opportunities.

Like the entire Audi Group, Audi Hungaria is committed to the use of artificial intelligence. This is set out in the "Code of Conduct" and the AI Principles, which are binding for all employees. The company's digitalisation division also oversees compliance with the EU AI Act, the European Union's regulation on Artificial Intelligence.

Audi is also accelerating the use of artificial intelligence in production in its German factories, and is managing its production lines on a large scale with central cloud-based solutions instead of local computers. Several areas of the parent company in Germany also use AI solutions, such as weld spatter detection, real-time process monitoring and robotic support for physically demanding workflows. In addition, AUDI AG is working with key partners to accelerate innovation and set a new industry benchmark for data-driven manufacturing in Europe.

At Audi México, artificial intelligence helps workers with repetitive and demanding tasks, while providing early fault detection and predictive process monitoring. The Mexican factory's key digital developments include a real-time production reporting app and a corporate chatbot that processes more than 13,000 questions. This will further strengthen the company's leadership in digitalisation and sustainable, smart manufacturing.
