"Audi Hungaria, Hungary's leading automotive company, has been strengthening the Volkswagen and Audi Group and the Hungarian national economy since 1993. The two and a half million vehicles produced so far are proof of the competitiveness of the Hungarian company," said Michael Breme, Chairman of the Board of Management of Audi Hungaria.
"The 2.5 million milestone is not just a number – it is proof of the knowledge, reliability and flexibility of the Győr team. We are proud that our employees produce premium quality cars every day and thereby contribute to the success of the company. We have entered a new era of vehicle production in Győr with the new Q3 generation and the series production of the CUPRA Terramar, which further strengthen the role of our Győr vehicle plant in the global production network of the Audi and VW Group," said Zoltán Les, board member in charge of vehicle manufacturing at Audi Hungaria.
Vehicle production at Audi Hungaria started in 1998 and has been expanding and developing ever since. Alongside the production of the now legendary TT models, a new era began in 2013: the company became a full-service automotive plant with its own press shop, body shop, paint shop and assembly line, and production of the Audi A3 limousine began.
The first Q3 model rolled off the production line in Győr in 2018, and the production of the third generation of the model series started in 2025, further strengthening the portfolio of the Győr-based vehicle plant. In addition to models with internal combustion engines, the range now also includes mild hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions. Since 2024, series production of the CUPRA Terramar has also taken place in Győr, making Audi Hungaria the first multi-brand production plant of the Audi brand. Cars made in Győr are on the road in more than 120 countries around the world, and if all the cars made in Győr – the Audi TT, A3 Limousine, A3 Cabriolet, Q3, Q3 Sportback and CUPRA Terramar – were lined up one behind the other, the line would stretch roughly from Budapest to Los Angeles. Audi Hungaria employees produced 200,756 cars in 2025, which is about 20,000 more than in 2024.
Audi is Hungary's largest foreign investor, with around €13.2 billion invested since the founding of the Győr-based company, and Audi Hungaria is now one of Hungary's largest companies by turnover and the largest employer in the region. Over its more than 30 years of presence, the company has grown to become one of the country's largest exporters, while becoming a global competence centre in powertrain production, vehicle manufacturing and services.
