On March 7, Péter Krén celebrates his 14th anniversary as an employee of Audi Hungaria. Currently working as an HR specialist, we asked him about his first day at work, the most memorable projects of the past years, and the importance of commuting services.
How did it feel to enter the factory gate on the first day?
Péter Krén: My first day at Audi Hungaria was on March 7, 2011. I was very excited, as I had only visited the factory twice before during the interviews. My orientation day took place at the corporate event center called Pipacs, where my colleagues welcomed nearly a hundred new employees, including myself. Everything went so fast that a month later, on the next orientation day, I was already welcoming new employees as the person responsible for commuting services.
What was the most memorable project you were involved in at the company?
PK: I work in the HR Services area, where I am responsible for coordinating the contracted buses operated by Audi Hungaria, reimbursing commuting costs, and payroll. Besides these important tasks, I also participated in planning the bus infrastructure for the vehicle plant, which was one of the most memorable moments of my time here.
The project, which started in 2013, aimed to develop the contracted bus network in parallel with the expansion of the new vehicle plant. The project involved numerous corporate departments, employee representation, and the city of Győr, so I gained extensive experience early on in the infrastructural developments related to commuting. The biggest advantage of the new bus network, which was inaugurated in 2015, was that the contracted buses could now enter the factory premises, ensuring that Audi employees could practically commute from door to door.

What are you most proud of in your career at Audi?
PK: My greatest success was probably the introduction of the online bus tracking application and passenger counting system. In 2022, Audi Hungaria launched a bus mobile application, through which employees can see in real-time on their own devices where the bus is exactly and when it is expected to arrive at the given bus stop based on the online schedule.
The bus tracking system not only makes the daily lives of bus travelers easier but also provides an opportunity to identify further development potentials. Simultaneously with the introduction of the mobile application, a complaint handling function was also introduced, allowing us to check whether the bus in question adhered to the schedule and stopped at the designated bus stop. Additionally, the card readers installed on the buses provide an accurate picture of the bus occupancy, and if necessary, we can increase the number of lines.
I am proud that the innovations in commuting services represent a significant advancement for the entire company.
Why did you choose Audi Hungaria? Why would you recommend it to others?
PK: Audi Hungaria is an attractive workplace because it offers excellent working conditions, a benefits package, and professional development opportunities. My 14-year career at the company shows what opportunities lie in such a large organization if the employees strive for innovation and think as a team. Audi Hungaria is not just a workplace but also a community that provides both professional and personal development opportunities.
