Audi TT Coupé and Roadster
Series production of various Audi TT models began in April 1998. The second-generation Audi TT Coupé began rolling off the production line in April 2006, and was followed by the second-generation TT Roadster that November. The Audi TT is a true collaborative product: The body shop and paint shop are located at the Audi plant in Ingolstadt; vehicle assembly is performed in a 35,000 square meter (376,736.86 sq ft) building at the Győr plant. The Audi TT is currently built here in single-shift operation by qualified employees who have undergone specialized training.
Due to the enduring major success of the updated Audi A3 and the start of production of the Audi A4, the company transferred some of the A3 production from Ingolstadt to Győr. Assembly of the Audi A3 began here in April 2001. The workforce produced a total of 36,458 units of the Audi A3 and the Audi S3 in Győr by April 2003. The Audi A3 Cabriolet has been produced here between 2007 and 2013. The Audi RS3 was also produced at the Győr plant from 2010 to 2012.
The highlight of 2012 was the topping-out ceremony for the new automobile plant where series production of a new Audi model and other manufacturing activities will be started in the future. 125,000 cars – the Audi TT Coupé and TT Roadster, the A3 Cabriolet and another member of the A3 family – will roll off the assembly lines there each year beginning in 2013. With an investment of €900 million to expand the plant, the company is creating 2,100 new jobs at the Győr site as well as safeguarding 15,000 jobs at service providers and suppliers.
