The Logistics Staff has been formed in order to provide direct support to the work of the logistics manager. Their responsibility is to supevise the costs of logistics and capital investments, long term programme planning, the co-ordination of the stock reduction project, and to control the activities related to quality assurance and process management.
Engine Logistics plans the production programme based on the orders of car factories, and then organises the transportation of engines. This is based on the continuous parts supply ensured by the purchasing department.
Vehicle Logistics is responsible for providing enough parts at all times for the safe supply of vehicle production, taking care not to pile up high inventories. The pillar of this process is the work of the buyers completed by the follow-up of changes which is none the less important. At the moment, their activity is focussed on the serial production of the new version Audi TT and the introduction of A3 Cabrio.
Plant Logistics is responsible for the material supply process. Their task is to ensure that parts arrive at the factory area in appropriate packaging, with the appropriate transport vehicle and in perfect condition. The control of transport within the factory, the designing of the warehouse structure and the assessment of the logistics supplier is undertaken by Plant Logistics.
